Hardware Management Console

HMC

The appliance or virtual appliance used to manage partitions (LPARs), firmware, and virtualization on IBM Power servers.

HMC requirements change across Power generations ... Power11 requires HMC v11 (7063-CR2 hardware or vHMC), which is a separate compatibility check from the server hardware itself when planning a migration off Power8.
