8286 EN2A: PCIe3 16 Gb 2-port Fibre Channel adapter (CCIN 579D)
EN2A is IBM's PCIe3 16 Gb 2-port Fibre Channel adapter (CCIN 579D). Not listed for a Power 8 machine type.
A newer two-port 16 Gb Fibre Channel card that connects the server to SAN storage, in a regular height card size.
Our sources do not list EN2A for a Power 8 machine type. Some sellers still list it for Power 8. Before you buy, confirm it against your exact machine type.
IBM documents EN2A as a Power9 adapter and it does not appear in the Power 8 adapter tables. Midland states the 579D card is supported on Power9 and Power8 servers but does not name Power 8 models. It replaces the older EN0A (CCIN 577F).
Before you order EN2A
Fibre Channel cards connect the server to a storage network (SAN) or tape. Low profile cards fit the shorter 2U servers. Full height cards fit the taller 4U servers. If a card has a twin code, the twin is the same card in the other height.
